FAULHABER’s precious-metal commutated miniature DC motors are designed with uniquely flat coil technology containing three flat, self-supporting copper windings.

Powered by rare-earth magnets, the motors deliver a continuous output of 0.8 W to 4 W, with minimal inertia. FAULHABER’s flat DC motors are available with precision gearboxes in all sizes, integrated gearheads and optical encoders — also with extremely flat design — to provide a very compact drive system with increased output torque.

Flat motor technology benefits applications where space and weight are a prime concern, such as robotic grippers, medical prosthetics and precision monitoring and measuring equipment.

Selecting your flat DC motor

With lengths ranging from 6 mm to 19 mm and with a four-pole design, the SR range of flat DC micromotors from FAULHABER are extremely flat with minimal moment of inertia.

Precious metal commutation allows for greater thermal performance, electrical conductivity, and corrosion resistance. Compared to graphite commutation, precious metal commutation provides better overall performance at continuous duty with a load at or around the point of maximum nominal efficiency. What’s more, the motors can be enhanced with integrated optical encoders and spur gearheads, creating the optimal solution.

Flat DC micromotors Series 1506 SR

The 1506 series of flat DC motors offer continuous output up to 4 W, torque up to 100 mNm, a nominal voltage between 3 and 24 V and smooth speed control means that speeds of up to 16000 min⁻¹ are achievable. 

Available in diameters from 15 up to 26mm, with a length of 5.5 to 21.5 mm, the flat DC motors are ideal for those tiny spaces.

Flat DC micromotors Series 1506 SR IE2-8

Unlike the 15016 SR flat motor, the IE2-8 flat DC motor contains an integrated encoder for applications where enhanced speed control and position determination are required.

The IE2-8 series is available in a diameter or 15 mm, with a length of 7.8 mm and ensures no load speed up to 15500 min⁻¹, a nominal voltage of 3 12 V, Lines per revolution up to 8, as well as 2 encoder channels.
